I'm sitting in front of my laptop while eating leftover squid from an awesome Italian dinner at Mercato last night. I am in D.W 's facebook page, checking out his interview/feature links (he recently got featured at METRO) and browsing through his newly updated site. Ever since I saw his works at Alberta Fashion Week, I've been one of the staunchest supporters of Daryl White's amazing talent and creativity. I am still in awe up to this day whenever I recall that this 21-year old sensation is self-taught. You would imagine that someone who has this great sense of imagination would've been taught by a prestigious fashion school but no, D.W's talent is innate. Most people would go in front of their closets, stare at numerous clothes and still choose to wear a fail-safe outift. D.W, on the other hand, would go in front of his (or his mom's) closet, stare at numerous clothes and make his old clothes new. Take for instance this shredded hoodie dress that I was wearing. The moment I saw this piece at Alberta Fashion Week, I knew I need to have it! Some people say that recycled pieces cannot be worn on a daily basis but I say this dress can take you places! Imagine the amount of mixing and matching that you can do with this--wear it with shorts on a hot sunny day just like I did or wear it with leather leggings, a cool jacket and sky high wedge booties on a chilly fall afternoon. If you are on the daring side, you can totally wear it as a dress just like how D.W showed it on the runway. Tough call but you can never go wrong with a piece like this!
D.W shredded hoodie dress, thrifted denim shorts from the Philippines, Value Village combat boots, Ardene fedora, Forever 21 accessories. Ray Ban aviators.
